The mechanism he’s pointing at is straightforward. If an AI agent is going to execute financial tasks on its own, it needs money that software can control and route, not money that requires business hours, intermediaries, or manual exception handling. The real test is whether Coinbase (or anyone else) turns “AiFi” into a concrete integration, a named onchain rail, or settlement tooling that an agent can actually use under real compliance constraints. If regulatory clarity improves and volatility compresses enough for automated pricing to be reliable, AiFi stops being a slogan and starts being a payments market.
